Therapy for Veterans and First Responders

Before transitioning to a career as a therapist, I was a professional airplane and helicopter pilot (civilian). I had the opportunity to fly and work with many veterans. I learned about their challenges such as reintegration after military service, reuniting with family, loss of identity and purpose, feelings of isolation, anger, loss of meaning, and moral injury.

The effects of the job can show up in many ways for first responders. Relationships with family, friends and coworkers can be affected. Experiences on the job can accumulate over time, difficult calls can stay with you, and you can begin to think about the “what ifs.” Your perception of yourself, others, and the world around you can negatively change.
Your moral compass and values can be challenged.

In my work with veterans and first responders, I have learned about their resiliency as they face their challenges.

Within therapy, the client and therapist can create a team. A new mission statement can be created based upon your goals. The most effective and efficient path to reaching your goals can be created through a strengths-based approach that uses various types of therapy tailored to you.

I provide evidence-based therapies for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and trauma: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy and Somatic Therapies.
